mrnutsnbolts (204), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 18, 2006 Tap @ Toronado Barleywine Festival in San Francisco. 2005 vintage. Clear golden-orange color. Very hoppy, citrusy, dry, chicory and coffee flavors. Nice medium body with a smooth feel on the tongue.
ABUSEDGOAT (1917), California, USA Feb 17, 2008 Draft from Toronado Barley Wine Festival. Amber orange color. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, caramel, fairly similar to the Pliny beers. Medium to heavy body, moderate bitterness and sweetness. Decent and well made, but somewhat forgettable given what else they had. auto (161), California, USA Feb 19, 2007 light colour, light flavour, red orangish brown, light head and a fruity fluffy flavor pretty good i like it y0c_ola (359), fremont, California, USA Feb 18, 2007 butterscotch, peanuts, peaches in flavor. was an amazing brewha as always from this brewer. brew on brewer. MI2CA (1099), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Feb 12, 2007 1/2 pint at RR - Last one of the night and after 10 hours at the brewpub, I was still impressed. Aroma is a strange mix of yeast, malt and hops that I wasn’t expecting from a barleywine. Bubblegum, caramel, earthy hops and spice. A Belgian insipred barelywine? Pours hazy yellow-brown with a small head and great lacing. Flavor was a good match to aroma. Palate is sticky and sweet. Very tasty and I will admit to not having much time or space to give this one the attention it deserved. aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Oct 9, 2006 Bready, malt forward body with tons of fruit. Hops are big and bold as well as surprisingly well balanced. Velvety smooth mouthfeel that seems more delicate than the style normally allows. Apricot and vanilla notes with pears and caramel covered plums. Nice clean and soft example of the style.
