3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brick red brew with a huge loosely packed head. A bit too fizzy for me, but still an enjoyable brew. Biscuity malt dominates with some spiciness coming through. Yeast seems to overwhelm the hop presence in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampler at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. Orange-copper color with small white head. Grainy, yeasty, caramel, some apples, the fruit comes through towards the end. Soft mouthfeel. Very nice and balanced, but not exactly a Biere de Garde imo...

3 oz chilled pour from tap into cylindrical taster as part of Russian River’s “everything on tap” sampled (16 beers this time around) at the brewery itself. I realize that drinking 16 different 3 oz pours is not ideal for proper rating, but when will I ever have an opportunity like this again?
Great amber color, very clear. Great body. Kind of an apple or grape juice nose without the sweetness. Taste is full and refreshing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light honey color, lots of pretty lacing. Now much in the way of aroma. Sine caramel and yeasty undertones. Flavor is malty, caramel. I have not had many biere de gardes, but it reminds me of two brother’s biere de garde.Which is to say it’s good, but not exceptional.
