4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Sampled at 2008 Oregon Brewer’s Festival. Easily one of the THE best double IPA’s out there. Spicy and smooth--hoppy and sweet. A perfect balance and a true treat!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks turd for acquiring these. Poured a copper amber with a slight haze. The head was about a finger thick creamy and white. Looks very unassuming. Has a huge nose, lots of citrus, apricot, grapefruit rind, oranges, very pungent floral hop nose. The flavor was also quite citrusy, tended more towards a grapefruit rind bitterness than the resinous hop character exhibited by the nose. Still very citrusy and hoppy, a tad sweet, nice malt character. The mouthfeel was mildly bitter with a subtle malt sweetness.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Oh baby, its an IPA, but so much more. Pours creamy amber golden color, hazy but not super opaque. Gorgeous aromas of orange peel, lite malt, almost tropical. Rich on the palate but not heavy. Layers.Pretty much the perfect double IPA.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with a half finger beige head. Nose is ripe grapefruit, floral hops and light caramel malts. Taste is orange, pink grapefruit, malt and a nice resin finish. Medium mouth feel. This is definitely a balanced IIPA. Good stuff. I think I built it up in my head to be better than what it is, but it’s certainly up there with the great ones

12 oz. bottle @ liquid sunshine - thanks bitbucket; have been rocked by this brew at ever tasting and enjoying its appearance in town on draft at a few places; clear, golden amber with foamy white head; aromas are thick and resinous; tons of hops but balanced out as it is a malty beast as well; creamy, bready texture; everything here is in perfect harmony

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by mreusch. Pours a hazy golden-amber with a creamy off-white head that laces beautifully. The nose is like a handful of fresh C-hops: big grapefruit and pine needles. On the light side of medium-bodied the mouthfeel is super-slick with a lingering bitter-hopped finish. Big, piny, citric hops with a pale malt backing. This is a delicious beer that only makes me wish that I had more. Thanks again for sharing this with us, Matt!

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2008 500 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a smallish frothy white head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is piney resiney floral hops with some sweet caramel malt and a little fruitiness.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts initially with a little bright citric fruitiness that is quickly followed by a good sized piney peppery hop bite the lingers in the finish. This is excellent tasting and pretty well balanced (a little hop forward, but not a big messy hop bomb). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a velvety texture.
Overall, an excellent and well balanced DIPA!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strong and ridiculously potent piney grapefruity citrusness going on here, and its delicous! Could drink this relatively unbalanced overly hopped hopbomb of a beer all evening, if I could score it for bottle price and not pay to ship it into Illi. Not quite hopslam greatness, but close. Its a style I love and a well made beer, nothing to complain about from my first bottle.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This beer was definitely worth the trip, on tap at Russian River’s Brewpub. A glowing golden body with a decent, far from over-zealous head. Plenty of fresh hoppy aroma and a palate that deserves more than a 5/5. Flavor is amazing, bringing the best of both sweet and bitter. Despite it’s bounty of hops, the bitterness does not dominate, though it still comes across quite powerfully. What a beer!
