4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler from Caponeís....Pours out a mostly clear light orange color with a small white head, touch of lacing. Aroma is of citrus and pine hops. Taste is complex, yet very well balanced. creamy mouthfeel with hops up front, but a very nice balance. Awesome beer

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hand bottled 22oz bottle from kramer17801. Thanks! Great looking stuff. Clear with just the right amount of carbonation. The aroma is heavenly! Big citrus, fruit loops, hints of spice and a light sweetness with just a touch of alcohol. The flavor is everything you might guess from the aroma. Very potent sticky hops that remind me of mango, lemon, citrus peal and oranges. Just delicious. Surprisingly, I thought this was fairly well balanced with malt. Not in a sweet way, just balancing and clean. While the real McCoy was truly a treat, I was glad to see that my homebrew version was at least in the ballpark. Iíll definitely be making that one again.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
poured from a growler into a snifter glass
A: Pours a beautiful, clear orange with an ample, fluffy head that lasts quite some time, leaving a tremendous amount of lacing as I quaff it.
S: I already knew how great this beer tasted before I decided to review it, but the aroma doesnít live up to the flavor IMO. Some nice notes of the grapefruit/pine and maltiness that is to come, but the scents donít do the beer justice.
T: Iím not sure words in the English language have yet to be created to describe the godliness of this beer. An immediate blast of sweet grapefruit hoppiness blasts the tongue, followed by a delicious and tantalizing mixture of additional maltiness, and finishing with a piney bitterness. This beer is perfect. Fact.
M: So creamy, so perfectly carbonated, so good. In the words of Frank the Tank, "itís so good, when it hits your lips."
D: Well, hate to penalize it at ALL, but itís TOO drinkable and at 8% ABV, just one growler is pushing the limits. A superbly dangerous drinker.
Highly, highly recommended.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2008 had this on tap at liars club with smhncabot. aroma was citrus with touches of spruce/pine. The flavor was also of sweet citrus with a citrus bitterness. this is a hop bomb but it is also a very good ipa
bottled within the month.
This is so clean and drinkable, damn you Pliny.
A lot more dankness in the hopping this time.
Malting is crisp and so clean it’s dangerous.
Keeping the rating as is.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From growler, Caponeís of Norristown, PA. Pours a clear dark gold to light copper colored body under a one finger fine bubbled white head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is of resiny and piney hops over a hefty bready and lightly toffee malt base. A light note of alcohol. Flavor is resiny hops with a very aggressive bitterness that starts mid-swallow and lingers well into the long finish. Thereís a good base of crusty bready malt, but it stays out of the way of the hops for the most part. Mouthfeel is full bodied and thick with a slightly sticky resiny finish. Perfect pinpoint slightly fizzy carbonation cuts the texture well. Pretty darn good stuff. I liked that it wasnít sweet in the slightest and the alcohol was totally hidden. Now to track down the Younger!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The aroma was piney, resinous, and citrusy with a strong fruity character and an orange note. Malt lurked behind with a bit of a bready character, but was certainly kept at bay by the hop presence which was also a bit grassy. The beer was very lightly hazy golden amber with a low white head which did lace the glass. The flavor was strongly piney and grassy with orange and grapefruit citrus and a well achieved malt backbone to balance the bittering aspect of the hops. The body was heading toward medium full and the carbonation was a bit low (perhaps due to being a growler), but the beer remained creamy in the mouthfeel. Alcohol was really only a factor in some mild warming after consumption. A really nice Double IPA.
Growler from a friend obtained at Caponeís in Norristown, PA on Russian River night 1/17/06.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Medium gold color - medium head. Wonderfully lively aroma of citrusy hops, with notes of sweet malt, orange peel, grassy hops. Taste is qutie good - bouncing with lively hops throughout, though it si very well balanced and quite easy on the palate. Body is just a tad thin. Finish is clean and crisp.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a hazy golden with an off-white head. Strong aroma of citrus and pine hops, which was nice but still not quite as pronounced as I was looking for. Flavor was a bit blander than the aroma, with some pine and grass coming through but without a lot of malt to back it up and also without a whole lot of density, making it feel a tad thin overall. I donít know if it just wasnít my night for double IPAís or if my palate was shot or if I was expecting too much, but this was the final hoppy disappointment of the evening.

Copper/Amber color. Intense citric hop aroma. Hops are the centerpiece, but donít overwhelm. Very drinkable and quite enjoyable.
