timbeer (42), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Feb 20, 2009 Bottle shared with MatSciGuy. This one was fresh - bottled on 2/3/09.
Pours a crystal clear amber tone with a one-finger head. Outspoken, fresh citrusy hop aroma. A big beer with a huge hop flavor some grapefruit, orange spritz with a dry bracing bitterness that hangs around a bit. Very good - well balanced and not too sweet which is one of the things that I don’t like about some double IPAs arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2009 First off, this beer looks great. Clear orange, nice. It smells seriously hoppy and tastes very hoppy, bitter and piney but is not overdone. It is super hoppy without being tacky about it. It has a slight dryness to it but doesn’t seem astringent. The label is entertaining and I have to agree with the sentiment...
update 11/04/08 bottle date
Smell is awesome, resin, pine, hop essence. Taste is every good as bit as I remembered from the last one I had a month or two ago.

The flavor was pine, lots of hops, grapefruit, and bitters. Overall, a well balanced, not overly spicy, smooth finish on the tongue DIPA. One of the best I’ve had. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Feb 16, 2009 Wow. This is an incredible IIPA. Pours yellow gold with with noticeable particulates in the glass. Nose is citrus, lemon, tart orange, grapefruit, and some pine and floral hops. Starts like red grapefruit and finishes like a tart white grapefruit. Solid beer that seems to contain every type of hop available. World class... Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2009 The head of it’s class. I don’t have much to add that hasn’t been added already, but I am thankful to have traded for this. Beautiful beer and worth the hype. aleyin (14), Murrieta, California, USA Feb 15, 2009 500 ml bottle from La Bodega. Amber pour, grapefruit hoppiness with pine and yes, a little melon flavor.Mostly good balance of bitterness, could be a touch less sweet for my palate. Nearly white head. At $5 for 16 oz+ a little pricey but it is a well deserved legend. Would drink again skmikeg (70), Poway, California, USA Feb 14, 2009 Updated: Jul 16, 2009Pour a nice looking amber color. hoppy aroma of grap fruit and pine and some fruits. hops hit you with flavors of grapfruit, and tropical fruits. this is a very aromatic beer. overall, this has one of the most unique flavors among the best ipa’s and and for sure deserves to be ranked among the best ipa’s in the world. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Feb 12, 2009 Poured from a 500ml bottle (Bottled on 12/30/08) provided by snojerk321. Served in a tulip. Poured a mostly clear amber with a somewhat diminishing head of beige foam. A heavy coating of lace was left around the glass. The aroma was full of stong hop vapors of grapefruit, mango and peach. Super fragrant! The flavor included tropical fruits, grapefruit, and a very light residual sweetness. A mostly dry, crisp bitterness lingered on the tongue long after each sip. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and clean. Just a slight oiliness. Lightly carbonated. A nicely crafted DIPA. I would love a chance to try this fresh on tap at the source!
