Nephilium (541), Ohio, USA Nov 1, 2008 This starts with huge piny hops, with a touch of caramel sweetness hiding beneath. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head on top. Wow... tasting it is almost like drinking nice pure hops. Strong and bitter, with the malts just being pulled along in the wake. I really wish this was available in my neck of the woods. Theis (3617), Denmark Oct 29, 2008 Draught at Falling Rock Taphouse. Clear dark amber - white head. High hoppy, high bitterness, light sweetness, nutty, berries, fruity, high resin, pine, grape, citrus, a bit sharp hoppy. Lovely. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Oct 28, 2008 On tap at Hamilton’s. Pours a clear amber-gold, with a white ring. Sweet and bitter hops aroma, with pine and citrus. Sharp hops taste that picks up increasing bitterness, with pine and a hint of herbs. Nice lingering bitterness. Great IIPA. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Oct 27, 2008 Updated: Nov 3, 2008Pale amber with a thick creamy beige head. Strong fruity hoppy aroma. Quite hidden the ABV but not flavourful as I expected. Good bitter aromatic dry end. TwoDudes (77), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 26, 2008 Hmm...I have been waiting to try this beer for over two years now. So, there is no way it could have possibly lived up all of my expectations. Having said that, if I lived in SoCal, I’d drink it...ALOT. Great citrusy grapefruit nose. Color is brite! I have to wonder why they filter this beer. Filtering strips alot of the essential hop characteristics. So, as good as it was, how good would it be unfiltered? Overall, I am a very happy boy. Pours blonde, white head.
Aroma is hoppy, yeasty and fruity (grapefruit).
Taste, hoppy, lots of citrus and grapefruits flavors, giving a light bitter taste. There is a sublte light malty / caramel presence. A good IPA, but not really what I was expecting. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2008 Sampled during Surly D-Day from 22-oz bottle. Pours a clear golden pale brew with an average white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film, white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of heavy grapefruit and piney hop character with a hint of golden grain malt and some white pepper. Taste is medium bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of mostly grapefruit, grassy hops, some golden grain malt, and some light caramel. Finish has a lingering bitterness with some light caramel and golden grain aftertaste. Everything I expected in this highly rated double IPA. paiste2002 (148), Saugus, California, USA Oct 26, 2008 Updated: Mar 16, 2009Bottle from Red Carpet Wine. Bottled 9/4/2008, it doesn’t get any fresher then this. Pours a beautiful crystal clear yellowish amber color with a nice white head that quickly falls and leaves some very nice lace. Aroma is citrus, pine, spruce, flowery sticky hops with a touch of caramel malt, awesome! Flavor is hops, grapefruit, pine, spruce and an underlaying caramel maltiness. Finish is grapefruit spruce bitterness. Overall a great beer that was a touch thin and could use a touch more balance in the malt dept. Stands up to the hype!

That was an understatement, the more I enjoy this fine brew the more I feel it’s near perfect.
