Commercial Description:
Pliny the Elder was a Roman naturalist, scholar, historian, traveler, officer, and writer. Although not considered his most important work, Pliny and his contemporaries created the botanical name for hops, "lupus Salictarius", meaning wolf among scrubs." Hops at that time grew wild among willows, much like a wolf in the forest. Later the current botanical name, humulus Lupulus, was adopted. Pliny died in 79 AD while observing the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. He was immortalized by his nephew, Pliny the Younger, who continued his uncle's legacy by documenting much of what he observed during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Pliny the Elder, the beer, is brewed with 40% more malt and over twice the amount of hops as compared to our already hoppy IPA.

50 cl bottle, Seattle, WA. Slightly hazy golden colour, very floral hop marijuana aroma. Thick mouth feel, sharp hop/alcohol bite, and a warm flowery finish that intensifies. Very nice.

Strong piney hop aroma, lemon, orange juice, and grapefruit. Pours completely transparent, dark orange and heavily carbonated. Thin white head. Very soft hop flavor, followed by a creamy orange, with a nice bitter lemon rind finish. Palate is a bit sharp upfront, but it mellows into a nice creamy finish, Creamy Creamy Creamy. How many times can I say that without it sounding gross?

Fantastic IIPA shared by xmarcnolanx. Pours hazy amber / orange with a minor soapy off-white head. The aroma has lots of danky hops, some grapefruit, green onions, garlicy and heavy smooth toasted malt. Medium smooth body that is lightly resiny with a grapefruit pith feel and gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with lots of dry full grapefruit, earthy, pine and lots of smooth rich malt. The finish is resiny, dry and hoppy. Very well made beer.

Draft (and #300!): pours a cloudy orange with a frothy white head, nice hoppy aroma with some citrus as well, taste is resiny hops, citrus, nice balance, medium body. Very good DIPA. I wish more had this kind of balance.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy gold color with a two finger white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and malt. Flavor is pine hops with good malt balance, with a grapefruit/citrus finish. Medium/full body with good carbonation and a oily feel in the mouth.
