bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 Draft (and #300!): pours a cloudy orange with a frothy white head, nice hoppy aroma with some citrus as well, taste is resiny hops, citrus, nice balance, medium body. Very good DIPA. I wish more had this kind of balance. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy gold color with a two finger white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and malt. Flavor is pine hops with good malt balance, with a grapefruit/citrus finish. Medium/full body with good carbonation and a oily feel in the mouth. MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Sep 26, 2008 An absolutely splended DIPA. When describing the flavors in this beer it seems like you’re talking about the standard "by the book" IPA, but there’s just something different here, it’s just done absolutely perfect. Citrus fruits are obvious, lots of juicy hops, bitter but not the puckering type of bitter - more like a sweet juicy grapefruit and pineapple juice type of bitter. Malt profile is absolutely perfect. Amazing on the Palate, not too thick - definitely not too thin. Looks great. Nice head that does become just a frothy top, but leaves great lacing. Nice sunburst hue. There is only one problem with this beer and it has nothing to do with the beer itself, it’s the age of the beer. You have to drink this one fresh and I mean FRESH. No more then a week or two after bottling. After a couple weeks it becomes a ho-hum beer. The bottle makes it very clear that this beer needs to be drank absolutely fresh so I’m rating this beer based on a perfectly fresh one I had, rather then the... more common (unfortunately) slightly aged one you are likely to find in the stores. Try to get the freshest you can find! It really does make a world of difference with this beer. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle via trade with hophead22.
Pours a nice murky dark golden color with a soapy white head. Aroma of hops, pine, malt, grass, grapefruit. Flavor is piney citrusy hoppy goodness along with some floral notes and a bitter grapefruity finish. Very well balanced and amazing oily slick mouthfeel, not to mention super easy to drink. Great IPA. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 25, 2008 Deep golden color with a good sized cream colored head. Aroma is of hops with some spicy notes. The taste is the same. This ale goes down very easily with a pleasant hop bitterness that lingers on the tongue. cajundodger (1), , California, USA does not count Sep 25, 2008 It is so hard to find but taste so good. It is so well worth the hunt to find it. TheRealBastard (141), The-No, California, USA Sep 25, 2008 Thanks Weeheavy! Pours deep amber color with tons of off white head. Nose is fresh pine and grass. Flavors are citrus and early hops. An amazingly easy drinking beer. ARealTreat for sure. Now go get yourself one! Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Sep 24, 2008 About a 3/4 inch thick head of very fine and very dense bubbles. Amazing succulent aroma. Bursting with hoppy citrus notes. Lots of mandarin oranges, grapefruit juice (not the rind), some malts and flowers. Color is a bright orange. Light to medium body that is a little bit thinner than I expected. Lots of bitter flavors of dry roasted peanut skins, grapefruit, some fresh grass and pine. Palate is sort of oily and finished dry. Decent flavor but the aroma was much better. Still good but a slight let down. Long bitter finish with lingering peanut and pine notes. A very good IIPA but not quite as good as I expected. Big thanks from etowneraser for bringing this back for me from San Diego.
