3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy orange pour, small sticky white head. Aroma is grapefruit but not as big as I thought it would be. Flavor is a big grapefruit blast and damn is this beer dry, it’s like chewing on hops. Very resiny aftertaste and it’s stripping the taste buds off of my tongue. Almost too bitter but the focus is defintely just on hops here. Overal a bone dry grapefruit bomb and I expected a little more out of it.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
On tap at the brewery in a pint glass - perfect to look at, perfect to smell, perfect in the mouth, and perfect to swallow - an absolutely sensational beer in every regard. Truly lives up to the hype. Worth the pilgrimage - I wish I lived closer to Santa Rosa.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Russian River Brew Pub. Highly anticipated tasting after ordering the 11 beer sampler paddle. Big hops, citrus and grapefruit. So well balanced. As a proud Canadian I think I prefer Driftwood’s Fat Tug, but only by a whisker.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle share compliments of Dave F., Thanksgiving 2013. Golden hue normal clarity with white mostly lasting thick fizzy head, fair lacing. Heavy citrus, grapefruit & some pine aroma. Moderate bitter citrus/ grapefruit hop on the initial taste with light bitter short citrus hop finish. I thought this was the best double ipa the first time I had this, that feeling obviously has not changed. Liquid goodness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Clear orange color with a nice white head. It has a nice fresh hop aroma. Very smooth and nice hoppy citrus malty taste. A good double, but IMO not the best.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Apex in Portland. Deep gold color with white head. Full aroma of citrus and pine. Big hoppy flavor, but not so bitter as to be unpleasant - there is a sweetness, too, but this is a hoppy beer. Good carbonation. Well balanced. One of the nicer IPAs I’ve had.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2013 Pours a brilliant, bubbly, clear majestic gold. Big pillowy white head with outstanding lace. Phenomenal aroma.......a pine cone citrus bouquet. Quite possibly the best part of this brew. Pliny has all the big DIPA flavors you expect--sweet malt, floral notes, citrus, pine hop goodness--but presents it in an unassuming, not over the top fashion. Wonderfully balanced. Well hidden alcohol, bitter, dry finish. Light bodied and smooth, soft carbonation. An absolute gem.
