4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
My first Russian River beer! Pours a classic sunset orange color with a two finger off white head that dissipates slowly and leaves great lacing. Great carbonation coming off the glass. Pungent, dank hops as soon as the bottle is opened. Get grapefruit, mango, peach, and lots of tropical fruit like a papaya, guava, or pineapple. Slight sweet bready malt in the background. Taste is insane. Starts with a ton of sweet, fruity flavors from the hops: peach, mango, grapefruit, some pine. Then get some bread from the malt, as well as some carmel sweetness that balances it slightly. The finish makes this beer. Lots of resinous tropical fruits like the papaya or guava mentioned earlier, as well as more grapefruit, pineapple, mango, pine. Very dry and bitter finish that lasts on the palate. Some alcohol but goes well with the flavors. Tastes very much like a fruit salad in my opinion. The carmel, bready malt does last through the finish to try to balance the enormous amounts of hops. Pretty full body with a creamy and sticky mouthfeel with nice refreshing carbonation. Lives up to the hype in my opinion. A hophead’s dream beer and one of the most flavorful double ipas I’ve had in recent memory.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Fad og flaske: Drukket tre gange som pint, taster og flaske: Orange klar øl med flot skumhoved. Let kattepis i duften. Lidt for gammeldags med for megen bitterhumle i forhold til moderne IPA: Men når det er sagt er det klart hvorfor den er så højt ratet. Superlækker frisk. Dejlig øl.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
I started this glass with a light gold liquid, half a finger of soft white head and an explosion of fragrance from the bottle. The hops-permeated aroma is fantastic; smooth and piney, and I find myself enjoying the citrus in the form of orange rather than grapefruit. Sweet, but not cloying, bitter, but not overwhelming. The malt/hops balance is amazing here, and I understand now why I have been searching for this for so long.
The palate is also very nice; dynamic and almost sticky, without the stickiness. A medium body, a smoothness, and a lasting consistency that blows other DIPAs out of the proverbial water.
I have little more to say but that I only hope that I can find it again. Very, very soon.
Thank you to my very good friend that found this and decided that it would be an excellent birthday gift. You were right. About every drop. :-)

I was skeptical - I was wrong. Pretty much the perfect DIPA, in that no one thing stood out: total balance. Nice deep amber color with a short thick head. Wonderful syrupy mouthfeel. Balance and restraint in the the aroma and taste. I caused the only problem - I was passing through Santa Rosa and only had time for one, and they had sold out of 22s. Legendary.

Great beer, love the ethos of Russian River, just wish it was in stock more of the year.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from my friend from his vacation in USA. Smell is very hoppy and grassy. Pours clear orange with a medium white head. Very nice taste. Very hoppy and very sweet. The high ABV is not noticeable and the beer places itself nicely in mouth. Overall a really nice beer which lives up to the hype and its myth.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From bottle. First time I’ve actually every got to try it. Found it (from back) at local grocery store. Wanted to know if it would live up to all the hype - of course it couldn’t. Great beer, nice hoppiness, but mellow finish. Don’t know that it’s worth over $5 per pt. in a bottle, but it’s a definite top 10 for me.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Deep yellow cloudy pour with a nice thin lacy head. Aroma of vanilla, both citrus and faint piney hops. Extremely drinkable despite the high ABV. Earns its reputation.
