Handbottled sample while at ZBF. A healthy serving was kindly poured into my glass by Mads. Yet another HUGE thank you sir. Jeeeeesus WHAT a smell. More than anything (superb quality of the rest of it aside) this is all about the smell. Imagine a perfect summers day and laying in a field filled with the most aromatic smells that summer has to offer. Pine, spruce and a full rack of even the most impressively stocked kitchens spice and herb rack. Was funny to watch the sheer glee on the face of every one who smelled this. My glass seemed to last a hell of a long time and I eventually realised it was because I was just sat there sniffing at it rather than drinking it. The flavour follows on where the aroma left off. It’s a full on hops fest. All the same stuff as the nose really but who are we to argue. Almost chewy in the body superbly balanced, herbacious, floral and as Mads noted a infinitely satisfying warming finish. Truely sublime on every level but that smell... it is clearly one of the best experiences a man could have. Almost a crime to drink it but hey, its just so tasty. I owe you one Mads.
Bockyhorsey (1968), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottled on 081308 courtesy of FlacoAlto. Freash pine and citrus hit the nose and new this was good. Orange cooper body with white head. Flavor had the dry citrus vine along with enough grapefruit flavor as so not to feel too dry. Thirst quenching experience cool and crisp on the palate. Really enjoyed this one thanks Sebastian IlanMan (529), Winona, Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle thanks to Kegbear: Deep golden pour with strong citrus, peach, fresh resiny hop aroma. Very sweet flavors of malt, floral hops, light alcohol, spice, and deliciousness. Very smooth brew. I could drink one of these every day. jjpm74 (2925), Connecticut, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle courtesy of mashmaster. Pours amber with a nice white head. Smells of pine, citrus, spice, pepper, some touches of caramel. Tastes mildly bitter and resiny with some hard to describe doughy hints. This is in a class of its own! SCBrew (25), San Clemente, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 Fantastic, overwhelming hop aroma!! It seems as though they have squeezed every bit of aromatics from the hops. Beautiful copper/amber color with a lasting white head. Good body, not too chewy. Malty sweetness is overwhelmed by bitter and citrusy hops. The aroma stays through the end. It leaves your empty glass smelling like hops. PHENOMINAL. yogy (2), USA does not count Sep 4, 2008 on tap at tj’s in paoli, pa. An amazing double ipa. If you ever have the chance to drink this beer you should. I wish it was more commonly found on the east coast.
