Thanks to cquiroga for this sample. Poured a medium to deeper golden/amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, oranges, caramel, and pine. Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, and grapefruit. Light to medium alcohol burn in the finish. Some lacing left on the glass.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing this hand bottled. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a medium bubbly white head. Aroma was a nice mix of orange, pine and floral from the hops with a great toffee/caramel balance. Flavor of citrus, pine, bitter with some of the alcohol coming through. 9-4-8-4-17 Re-rate on tap at Union Jacks. Flavor and aroma notes stay about the same. But the fresh draft version I had to rate higher than the hand bottled sampled I had before.

The Elder’s little brother that can certainly kick your butt 8 ways to next Wednesday. I had this at Liar’s Club and was pretty damn excited about it. In small doses, this is a gem. If I drank this all day, I’d certainly get into heaps of trouble. This is a fine example of hop gravy. I’d love to see this and Maharaja in a steel cage match in my backyard with me as the referee who doesn’t pay too much attention to dirty moves.

On Tap @ Liars Club: Beautiful dark amber color. Small, but fluffy head. Somewhat thick, sweet mouthfeel. Very hoppy. Good stuff. Not a beer I could drink every day. A little too sweet for my taste. Good stuff, but I prefer the Elder MUCH more.

Big cloudy amber pour...whitish head. Nice citric hop aroma...deep and resiny. Great fruity hop flavor with a ton of grapefruit, herbs, cara-malts, and a tinge of light toffee to balance this big boy. Full bodied, almost syrupy...a real treat. Nice lingering bitterness in the end. Great big IPA.

Handbottled via CharlesDarwin. Light copper color with a thin head. Major Cascade aroma with oodles of citrus. Strikingly bitter taste with a very solid and slightly sweet malt base. Couldn’t even taste the alcohol; I would have thought it a session beer!

Tap @ Liar’s Club. Beautiful clear golden copper color with off white head. Aroma of apples, brandy, semi sweet malt, & potent resinious hops. Flavor is potent as described above with hops and hop burn pronounced throughout. Very rich, lucious, full bodied flavor. Like a barleywine, with the alcohol very well integrated. This is a class offering, very, very nice.

Poured a bright golden color with a medium sized, creamy, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops, citrus fruits, tons of resin, caramel malts, and light alcohol. Strong pine in the taste, more citrus fruits, bitter grapefruits, with some sweet malts, and alcohol in the finish. Much more enjoyable than DFH 120.
