Six malts and four hops go into this tasty dark ale. Hints of toffee, caramel, and chocolate are evident from aroma to finish in this approachable robust porter. 1.059 O.G / 40 BUs

Tap. Pours clear dark reddish brown with a small brown head and great lacing. Light aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and dark roasted malt. Flavor about the same, lightly sweet and with a light bitter dry grassy finish.

Tap@the brewpub, Santa Rosa, CA, 13/08/12. Black with a pentagonal (?) slick of beige lacing finely. Chocolate, coal, burnt walnut and black toast in the aroma. High cocoa chocolate, mocha and slight blackberry beyond with pronounced US hop undercurrents. Hop-bitter, well roasted finish. Very nice.

On tap at Russian River. Poured a very dark brown, had a finger of head when I got it. Aroma of malts and mild coffee, had a lot more coffee and some bitter chocolate along with sweet mildly roasted malts when I drank it. Medium bodied, not too carbonated. Good solid beer but nothing special.

Draught @ the brewpub. Rated on 21.07.2012
Aroma has some dark chocolate and cocoa. Flavour is roasted with dark chocolate and hints of licorice. Rather good porter, reminds me of Sinebrychoff Porter, which is more roasted though.

Draught @ Brewpub, Santa Rosa.
Pours deep dark red color with small head. Aroma of ash dry chocolate, dark toasted malts, hints of fruits and cocoa. Flavour of dry chocolate, dark dried fruits, cocoa, faint notes of coffee, vanilla and some caramel. Very smooth chcolsty palate with a very dry malty finish. Yet again a very balanced brew.

Tap at brewpub- june 2012-pours deep brown with a soapy tan head and good lacing. nose is chocolate nuts and lite roasted malt character. bitter baking chocolate on the flavors wit ha very dry finish from a good dose of hops. lite husky note however very clean. That finish is long and very good. not an overly complex porter yet very tasty. not much to say about this one other than its pretty solid. would like to try again.

On tap at RR. Pour was a dark cola with a nice creamy head that lingered, even leaving some lacing. Great retention. Lots of roasted malts and dark fruit with a light coffee. Very dry, lots of roasted flavor with a very light smokiness. No real hop flavors stood out. This was all roasted flavors. Light coffee hidden through out. Light body, a bit thin, very porter like. Nice mild carbonation. This struck me more as a stout and not a porter. I was expecting a sweetness but this lacked that. It was ok, I doubt I try it any time soon. Reviewed on: 08-17-2010
