Six malts and four hops go into this tasty dark ale. Hints of toffee, caramel, and chocolate are evident from aroma to finish in this approachable robust porter. 1.059 O.G / 40 BUs

Draft @ brewpub. Black and beautiful, with an extra thick coating of tan lacing on the glass. Aroma of pure cocoa and ovaltine. Very creamy palate with a long lasting finish that has late emerging, intriguing rich dark roast in the end. Flavors are unadulterated chocolate and the toasted malt ending is fabulously real and adds so much unpretentious depth and complexity. Want more porters like this. Gorgeous!

Huge thanks to Alex for shipping this from RR and Sean sharing it with us yesterday. The perfect porter session beer, makes me think this is what a good small pub English beer tastes like. A dark brown pour, tons of carbonation in a light tan head, good retention and lacing...Aroma and taste are similar and awesome. Light coffee, nice roastyness, super tastey and super easy to drink. Kept coming back to this growler throughout the night. Get some of this right away.

Growler courtesy of wavers1. Opened and shared at Dark Lord Day 2010. A: Pours a very dark brown with a nice tan head. S: Plenty of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Nothing too complex, but very well done. T: Similar to the nose in characteristics. Nice depth of the present flavors. Nothing earth-shattering, but at the same time very nice for the style. M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. D: Quite drinkable, especially for the style. Thanks again to wavers1 for getting this out to me, as this is one I had been waiting to try for a long time. LCBS 2010. What a standout porter. Holy shit. Brown pour, tan head. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Flavor is so smooth. Chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malt. Helluva porter. RR just kicks ass. End of story.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2010 Another mad growler shared by Johnathan at the LCBS 10. A nice porter. Chocolate, roasted malts, and some coffee. It was just a little bitter for my taste. But in all fairness, I just had Millennium and M, so the next guy might have trouble measuring up. i would like to revisit this beer again...

Exactly what a porter should be. Roasty, chocolate and coffee all over the place. Unbelievable drinkability. Not sweet, not too dry, nicely carbonated, great mouthfeel.

Russian river porter. Thanks to alex for sharing... Pours a dark cola brown with lighter reddish edges and a thin soapy just off-white head... Big roast aroma and cocoa chocolate nose. Quite assertive... Roast and toasted malt, sweetened middle, and smooth finish. Fine drinkabity in this one. Really creamy body and smooth all around. One of the best porters that i’ve had in a long time. excellent. 8/4/8/4/15

Might be one of the best beers i’ve ever had, i’d quite possibly punch my mom for another drank. Without question the best porter I have ever had. Amazing balance of bitter, body, hints of roast, tons of chocolate, backnotes of coffee. simply perfect.

Pours a dark ruby caramel color with a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malts with some berry hints and mild notes of hops.the flavor is roasted malt with a hint of dark cherry and a mildly roasted bitter finish. A pretty nice porter.
