Pours a dark ruby caramel color with a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malts with some berry hints and mild notes of hops.the flavor is roasted malt with a hint of dark cherry and a mildly roasted bitter finish. A pretty nice porter.

Smokey coffee with a touch of chocolate. Coffee orange liquor, raison flavors mingle with some well placed smokieness. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, too bad. Finishes roasty and bready.

Draft (from a growler). Dark brown color with a brownish head. Chocolate and coffee aromas, somewhat astringent. Tons of coffee and chocolate in the flavor as well. A pretty solid porter but one of the worst RR’s I’ve tried (that’s kind of like my worst Ferrari).

Tap at RR. Deep dark brown color. Aroma is fairly standard for a porter--chocolate, roasted malts, coffee. Flavor along same lines, plus a certain mustiness that is perhaps misplaced. Solid porter.

Firkin @ Elysian Capital Hill - another highlight from SBW, though this one was a little bit of a letdown; lovely chocolate nose with very thin texture and flavor profile overall; kind of watery and flat; some roast and chocolate flavors, but this one was all in the nose; still hold out hope to try again at the source
