Type: 12-oz. (I think) draft Glass: Goblet From: Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa, Calif. Price: ??? Purchased: July 17, 2013 Consumed: July 17, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured an almost pitch black color with one finger of khaki-white head when I got it. Nice layered lacing. Minimal retention on the top. Smelled sour cherry, tart, Sweet Tarts, black cherries, bourbon, barrel-aged and raspberry. Tasted similar to the smell with a stronger alcohol feel. Got tart, Sweet Tarts, strong background, barrel-aged, raspberry, dark cherry, bourbon and faint Cherry Coke Zero. Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. Another great beer. Russian River just does everything right.

Smell is deep dry fruit with a slight vinegar and citrus. Pours dark and consistent brown-black. Taste starts slightly sweet. At very first it seems like just another porter then quickly the sour builds. Prunes and vinigar top off with grapefruit which lingers at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours brown with low light tan head. Aroma of red grapes, bretta, brown sugar, some malt. Taste is quite sour with light roasted malts in the background. Can’t quite find the porter apart from the malt notes. Body is light and fresh with average carbonation.

Smells very sweet and sour with notes of cherry and barrel. Pours dark brown with little head. Very tart and sour with a bitter, tannic finish. Very interesting. Reminds me of a fruit sour combined with a Kentucky common.

Dark in color, mostly clear, fine layer of tan foam, thin head. Baked apple aromas, lightly acetic, fairly acidic, touch of tartness, lactic sour, apparent sweetness, dry clean feel, floral aromas. This is an interesting complex of simple flavors, bacteria and pH -- not a whole lot here but what is here is tight and complementary.

On tap at Russian River. Black with a tan head. Very tart and acidic. Vinegar, wine, oak. I didn't get much of the porter characteristics though like chocolate or coffee. Still a very good sour ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewpub. 1st rating woooo! Deep amber brown with a tan head. Brown sugar, black cherries, molasses, port wine, aged balsamic vinegar. Really awesome nose. Flavor is even better. Slight milk chocolate and lactose sweetness lasts for a second before a beautiful lactic acidity plows it over and leaves nice lemon pith and grape skin accents behind. So good. Wow.
