santoslhalper (184), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 7, 2008 Batch 4. Again, ginormous thanks to Naka for sharing. Super strong spicy aroma - ginger, pepper, floral and grassy. Grapefruit, peach, pepper, spicy, doughy, bready, and a slight funk in the background. Full & creamy mouthfeel. Amazing.
tjthresh (1317), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Oct 6, 2008 750 from Taverner. Pours golden with a nice amber-ish tint. Wonderful thick white head. Really nice woodsy herbal floral hop aroma with a bit of a sugary malt character. Pretty hoppy flavor as well. Kind of a muted mintiness. Pleasing malt character with a eye opening bitter finish. Medium, mouth filling body with lively carbonation. and a balanced finish. I could drink this beer everyday. oreogobbler (173), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 4, 2008 Aroma: sweaty (gym) stink aroma, musk, spice, but still pleasant. (if that makes any sense)
Like most russian river beers: pours completely transparent dark orange with a white soapy head.
Flavor: Musky grass flavor, with some nut blend and acidic finish.
Palate is a bit sharp but balanced and enjoyable. Naven (726), San Diego, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle, from the brewpub that I picked up back in July. Batch 005. Super nice, clean, golden color. Nice fruity aroma. Flavor is light, refreshing and tasty. Kind of reminds me of a cross breed between a Belgian ale, a Hefe and a Pilsener. Good stuff. carl4beer (284), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 22 oz. batch 004. from agentsteve. pours clear golden with big white fluffy head. aroma is tart with some fruit. mouthful is dry and earthy with some spicy yeast and pleasant bitter finish. very enjoyable. iowaherkeye (1410), relocated to Santa Rosa f/Iowa, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 On tap at the brewpub, chalkboard states this is 5.48%Clear light golden with a one finger off-white head, down to a thick film and thicker ring. Aroma of bananas and spicy Belgian yeast, as well as some light herbal and peppery hops. Flavor adds a bit of earthy bitterness, finishing semi-dry with some cereal grain and bitterness peaking around a 3. Burps lightly herbal hops. Light body with some light carbonation. Only a few breaks of film in the glass to make it lacing, and not a sheet. Not ungodly complex, but not what this beer was going for. I?d gladly drink this with most meals.
