hiddenvariable (181), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 11, 2008 bottle, batch 004. pours a brilliantly clear gold with a huge off white head that sticks around and leaves lots of nice sheets of lacing. nutty malts and spices dominate the smell, with hints of pears and cherries in the background. more nutty and earthy malt flavors, and again a lot of spices, and again again, with light fruit notes of apples and pears. good dry and lightly moderately finish, light body, tons of carbonation, creating a silky and somewhat quenching mouthfeel. a solid effort, but overly spiced for my tastes.
yespr (6000), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 Batch 5. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Mild spiced and light orange to citric fruity. Medium dry and slight wheaty flavour with a mild spice note. Smooth and mild spiced flavoured into a light yeasty and spiced finish. Smooth and light fruity but also dry. stefanje (526), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle at RBSG grand tasting. Thanks to whoever brought it. Pours a cloudy gold color with a small white head. The aroma featured Belgian yeasts and sour grapes. The taste was biter-sour with lots of funk, spices and yeast. The mouthfeel was full and malty. The finish was long and spicy. Overall: I’m gonna need to try this again, my notes are getting kind of unreliable and sloppy. Beer # 34 for me on the night of the grand tasting. emacgee (991), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 1, 2008 Pours a pale hazy gold with some floaties. The head is about 2 fingers thick, creamy and offwihte. The nose is fruity, citrusy, nice west coast American hops, spicy phenols, yeasty, pepper, grapefruit rind. Very nice nose. Spicy and yeasty flavor, waxy and citrusy hops, Belgian earthiness, a certain vegetal carrot flavor. Light carbonation and lightly waxy. Very nice American Belgian with a well done hop profile. durhambeer (349), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Ryan. Bright, deep golden pour with a bubbly white head. Complex nose: lemon, hibiscus, rose petals, bergamot, light malts, a hint of funk. Smells better as it warms. Tart and tasty on the palate. A little thin; would love to try this after a little bit of age. aubreya (656), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jul 30, 2008 The color was a hazy light golden/orange. There was small floating sediment. The head fizzy and white while lacing the glass. The aroma was acidic, lemon, and earthy. The flavor was very earthy, spicy, musty. The palate was slick. The finish was waxy.
