COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who’s afraid of the "big bad BRETT?" We’ll tell you who: winemakers! Because of our close proximity to several hundred wineries, we often get winemakers visiting our brewery. (After all, it takes a lot of great beer to make great wine!) Because we use 100% Brettanomyces yeast to ferment Sanctification, most winemakers will only smell the glass, and only a very few will venture to taste the beer. They think the Brettanomyces will attach to their clothing and end up in their winery. A simple solution was offered: keep a smudge pot burning at the door of our brewery so they can burn their clothes when exiting, but even that was not enough. After giving it more thought, we concluded that winemakers think Brettanomyces might scar their taste buds and possible even permeate their skin? Either way, Sanctification is one of the most unique beers you will ever taste! It was fermented with 100% Brettanomyces, rather than the traditional Saccharomyces.

25 oz corked bottle from the brewery. Thanks Vinnie! Been saving this one for my 100th rating..woohoo. Looking forward to this. Beer is a hazy orange color. Aroma of sour apples, lemon, peach, and funky yeast. Taste is the same. A nice smooth sweet and sour aftertaste, very carbonated. Light body and refreshing. Went well with our chicken/garlic pizza. This is good, but i think it might be even better after a year or two.

beer decants a suprisingly bright (clear), deep amber-kissed gold, with a well-formed white head that retains nicely and leaves good lacing. tangy nose of straw-rubbed yogurt, with a very lemony/citric tang floating over composting grain notes. cleanly acidic beer starts with a dry grain character quickly subsumed in a wave of lemon zest, with lactic notes adding more dryness in the finish. suprisingly minimal astringency, given the acidity of the beer. drydrydry is the overwelming impression. awesome summer drink - almost like beer-lemonade.

750ml corked bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). Bottle labeled Batch 001. First pour out of the bottle was a medium and clear orange color. The 2nd pour was a medium and slightly hazy orange color. The 3rd pour was a medium and completely hazy golden color. From clear to hazy and from an orange to a golden color. Aromas of brett, leather (both on the mellow side and not overpowering), green apples, and peaches. Tastes of leather, green apples, fruity and citrus. Neither the aromas or tastes were over powering - both on the subtle side. Body a tad thin.

750. Beer is a hazy, light golden brown color with an average-sized, white, frothy, mostly diminishing head. The aroma is heavily vinous and bright: Malty with a light note of toasted grain: Hoppy with a moderate herbal note, moderate lemon zest, light notes of chamomile, clean straw; Yeasty with a great moderate note of horseblanket, trace of band-aid and B vites; Miscellaneous notes of trace green apple peel, peach. And as I wrote before, heavily vinous wth a note of Chardonnay, light note of oak. The flavor is moderately sweet, trace bitter, lightly acidic (think in a citrus way) with a long, tart, light-to-moderately acidic, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. Bravo, RR!

Unbelievable deposition of yeast on the bottom, near gushing and very lively carbonation to absurdly high, near white head; collapsing over straw-orange beer. Rozes, rosehips, wheat, a little bit of horseblanket, lemon or lemonblossom, citruszeste, old oak. Very refreshing taste with again lemon, lemonzeste, flowery, nectarines (actually, it reminds me and the wife of Pattyntje Dubbel when fresh, then again, who but us knows...) Medium bodied - gives actually a lighter impression than it is. I get again a slickness, reminding me of a wheatbeer. Again a very complex beer from Vinnie. To me, it’s like a lambic brewed with pure cultivars, instead of sp. fermentation. Very refreshing summer ale, great.

Poured a hazy light golden color with a small white head. Lightly tart with leather and yeasty funk. Lightly tart flavor is semi dry with a touch of leather. Light bodied.

haha, my notes say: Lemons!!! sour notes like warheads with sweetness like strawberry or peach, maybe some apricot and pear added in. flavors also include apple, and the flavor is not as sour as the aroma. very drinkable. most excellent.

Cloudy gold, with no head. Really nice aroma - lemon and lime, plus a sour funky edge. Just like me, except for the "funky" part. Nice and subtle. My notes describe the flavor as asprin, which does not sound plesent, but I meant it in a good way. In addition, plenty of background notes, to - citrus, some spices, both sweet and savory, and a nice, crisp finish. Sampled at Noogfest2.

Pours a hazy gold. Cinnamon, citrus pith and juice make for an interesting aroma. Lingering bitterness in the flavor that helps keep all areas of the tongue involved.

A golden appearance. A musty attic and vinegar type aroma. The flavor is vinegary as well with some sour fruit and swiss cheese? Well thats what my notes. And my notes would never lie, yeah right. Anyway this one was funky and dry but good.
