COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who’s afraid of the "big bad BRETT?" We’ll tell you who: winemakers! Because of our close proximity to several hundred wineries, we often get winemakers visiting our brewery. (After all, it takes a lot of great beer to make great wine!) Because we use 100% Brettanomyces yeast to ferment Sanctification, most winemakers will only smell the glass, and only a very few will venture to taste the beer. They think the Brettanomyces will attach to their clothing and end up in their winery. A simple solution was offered: keep a smudge pot burning at the door of our brewery so they can burn their clothes when exiting, but even that was not enough. After giving it more thought, we concluded that winemakers think Brettanomyces might scar their taste buds and possible even permeate their skin? Either way, Sanctification is one of the most unique beers you will ever taste! It was fermented with 100% Brettanomyces, rather than the traditional Saccharomyces.

[bottle, shared with DarkMagus] Pours a hazy orange/yellow color, with a thick layer of dense foam. Aroma is loads of bacteria and funk. Musty brett flavors really dominate, but also provide some really nice, strong pineapple/mango fruit esters. Finishes extremely dry, making you crave another sip. Overall, this beer is wonderful. Definitely a memorable experience.

Cloudy golden appearance. Leafy aroma. Flavour initially shocking for a beer but OK once you get used to it. Bit like limeade or sour jelly sweets. (K)

Now this is Brett. Cloudy yellow displays a nice sour and white wine character. I like Brett over limbic and this beer is a sour reminder of why.

Draught at RR. Pours dark yellow with decent initial head and light lace. Aroma is light yeast, pith, citrus fruit, very balanced. Flavor is dense and very ripe citrus, astringent, barn funk. The feel is heavy, funky yeast rides out long on the back of the palate. It adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Note I had pretty good head cold on its way out and at bay with a Sudafed when I drank this.

Poured on draft at the brewery. chalk board noted this was the 2013 batch, poured March 4, 2014. pours hazy yellow with white head. Sour apple aroma, vinegar, lots of Brett. Nice Brett on the flavor with sweet citrus fruits and lemon peel, some pears and green apples. Tart and lactic but not mouth puckering sour to deal with here. Very light and goes down easy with near spritzy carbonation. Really nice Brett beer that I would definitely have again.

Wallén bjuder. Hallon och persika i doften (högst otippat). I övrigt ganska dämpad doft. Sur och lite svettdrag men ingen ättika eller stall. Svagt citrus. God men hade förberett mig på surt. Tunn, låg beska och låg alkohol.

Bottle at home. Pours bit hazy yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is high fruity vinous with brett notes and wood. Light oak and citrussy acidic. The flavor is brett, citrus, wood, grapefruit peel, oak and is very bitter and acidic. The bitter acidic notes continues to dominate in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Brewpub in February 2014. (vintage 2010) Hazy golden/yellow with a minimal head. This was an interesting one with a lot of character. Vinous and tart, funk, lemon and oak. Very refreshing and nicely drinkable. One of the better ones during my visit at SF Beer Week 2014.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a thin white head. Sour citrus aroma. Very sour flavor lingering long into the finish. Lemony goodness. Tasty.
