Russian River Sanctification

A 750mL Bottle (Batch 003) cracked in honor of the last true summer Friday of the year. A quick snap of the cork, a pop and a fair rise of carbonation. Not gushing. Pours a brilliant, shining clear gold, with an uneven merangue-like white head of fine bubbles. The nose comes as the pure, pure essence of Brett. Dry, tart coconut. Cobwebs, cotton and silk. A bit of tropical fruit. Lambic dryness. Mmm. The flavor is so rich and snappy. A bright and delicate dance of pine needles, holly boughs, and pineapple cores settles in with a bit of fermented bread dough, curt plum-like tartness, and the dryness of tart cherries. Soft. Palate is dry, puckery and tart. All the things I want from the backend of this kind of beer. Very little residual sweetness, but some faint yeasty bitterness. The flavor profile of this beer isn’t overwhelming, but it’s really nice to have amped up Brett character, to the point that it gets uniquely tart in the corners of the mouth and that the cotton dryness of brett becomes almost bitter. 750 ml bottle (batch 3) via trade - Well it’s homebrew day and I need a bottle of beer that will last an hour or so. Since this is a Sour, it will probably last me all day. Pours a clear light golden color with a one and a half finger thick white head. Light lacing. Lively carbonation. The aroma is yeast and big time esters. The flavor is TART esters. Palate is bitter and tart. Light body. I don’t know how people can drink this stuff. I’m sure it’s a good beer, just not in my book.

Thanks for sharing, iowaherkeye. Hazy dark gold body with a bright white head. The aroma is rich with the brett. There is a grassy note with some peaches. The taste has some rich tartness and peaches. There is a decent note of cinnamon. Wow, this is an interesting beer and gets more sour as you drink.

[bottle, shared with DarkMagus] Pours a hazy orange/yellow color, with a thick layer of dense foam. Aroma is loads of bacteria and funk. Musty brett flavors really dominate, but also provide some really nice, strong pineapple/mango fruit esters. Finishes extremely dry, making you crave another sip. Overall, this beer is wonderful. Definitely a memorable experience.

750ml generously shared by Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! Don’t remember which batch this is - I’ll say it’s batch awesome! It’s just wild how well RR does these sours, each distinctive and subtle in its own way. A pale cloudy pour with a trace of orange, the beer is from the get go crisp, hoppy, and sour but wonderfully well balanced. Super dry finish, full mouthfeel. An awesome brew.
