4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
all the other ratings are either for a different recipe or something! tap from russian river brewing company claiming 6.5% and 100% Brettanomyces, clear and bright golden body, tiny soft head that disappeared to a fine ring, very sweet flavor that was very round and almost buttery - hints of clove and soft sugar sweet peaches, carbonation was almost perfection, i fell in love with this immediatlely! just wish i didnt have to drive to santa rosa to try it

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Batch 005: 100% fermented with Brettanomyces
A: pours a blonde ale with excellent clarity and three fingers of eggshell which slowly falls to a sheet of the same. Spotty lacing.
S: Lemon, hay, slight grain. Definitely smells sour. The brett is fairly earthy (for lack of a better term in my lexicon). As I take slower and longer pulls, I get some tropical fruits: pineapple and mango, weird.
T: Slight lemony tartness I associate often with gueuze’s comes up front, then disappears nearly as quickly. then I get the bitter, baking soda flavor I normally feel from Brett. Deceptively easy to quaff. I’m using my limited experience with Orval to generalize here, but I don’t think I normally like Brett and yet this one is pretty good. Some nice bitterness from, something. Theres a slight vegetal flavor on the finish.
M: Light with hi carb - matches the beer well. Semi dry finish has me coming back for more.
O: I’m taken by this beer. I am not in love by any means, but I’m certainly happy with the acquisition. I have an additional bottle, and will let it age until I trade it, unless I get a hankering for it prior to that time. This is solid, and would be great for a blazing hot day, ice cold. Great substitute for a shandy IMO.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A sour lovers dream. Pours pale yellow with a white head. The aroma has sour lemons and a great funkiness. The flavor is similar with the sour and funk going together so well. Extremely dry and refreshing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, bottled on 11/28/12. Pours the color of Apple juice, crystal clear with a steady stream of bubbles and giant, frothy white head. Aroma: citrus, tropical fruits, sweet, floral. Very inviting. Remarkably little "funk" in aroma. Taste: a lot of vinegar tartness. Light sweetness, just the tiniest bit of funk, dry finish. Palate: very slick, oily texture, light body feels a little thin, nice carbonation. Overall: fresh sanctification was one of the highlights from my trip to RR last march. This doesn't excite me the way it did then, but I guess that's the magic/horror of brett.

Batch 006 bottle, 2011 I believe. Great example of a sour brett blonde. Carbonation hardly shows but comes through perfectly. Plenty sour but dry enough to drink easily.

Bottle. Pours a very murky yellow orange with fine white head. Settles quickly with some stringy lacing. Aroma is tart, lactic acid, vinous, spicy, citrus. Flavor is moderately tart up front with an oaky, vinous finish. Lively carbonation, medium-light body, and a dry finish. A very tasty sour.
