Named after the great Hitchcock movie filmed in Santa Rosa in 1943. This Imperial Porter packs a rich chocolate and light smoked malt character with a very soft, dry finish.

I just love the construction of this beer. Let’s face it. 9.8 some dark pit fruit flavor, coffee, substantial bitterness, trademark anise notes... this just as well could be called an imperial stout. And it’s only by looking at it as such that you can really the cleanliness of the profile, the dryness, and the lack of all too common flaws of sloppy liquor infusions or fusels. This has only a touch of apparent alcohol added as a pepper note to a bitter finish. So well done.

Growler thanks to Scott. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is light roast and spice. Medium mouthfeel with sweet chocolate and light roast. Easy to drink, a very good porter from RR.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a black hued body with a lasting tan head. Aromas are roasty, toasty, nutty, walnut, macadamia, low chocolate and some raisins. Flavors are roasty, toasted, nutty, chocolate, low smoke, rounded dark fruits (dates, rich raisins), a bit burnt, bitter, well hidden alcohol, walnut with tannic skins. Full bodied yet has some higher carbonation with well hidden alcohol.
