UPDATED: OCT 25, 2014 On tap at the brewpub. It’s a dark brown one, topped by a beige head. Dried fruits, roasted malts and coffee on the nose, hints of chocolate too. Bitter flavor, both hoppy and roasted bitterness, with coffee and chocolate and some dried fruits. Full body, soft carbonation. Lasting finish. Sure not bad. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 130806

Bottle. Looking quite nice in the glass with it’s clear, dark brown body and a dense, beige head. The aroma has roasted malts and coffee, with a chocolate touch and some dried fruits. Molasses notes and some fruity notes. A pleasant bitterness in the flavor, with roasted malts, molasses, coffee, chocolate notes and some licorice and cocoa. It’s full-bodied and smooth on the palate, although with a tad much carbonation. Lasting roasted finish. Really nice this one, wonder what I was thinking when only awarding it a 3.7. Sure deserves more. 141025

@Quintessence - quite clear black beer with a little persistent foam; very roasted aroma of ashes, woody with notes of rum and mocha; full-bodied, tasty and fairly bitter, assertive, very dry finish with long roasted chocolatey and woody notes, hints of vanilla and chestnuts - huge and complex, absolutely great stuff !

[2/12/15] Draught at Russian River in Santa Rosa. Clear brown color, pretty light for the style. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, a bit of roast and a bit of licorice. Flavor has some toast, a bit of coffee and a bit of licorice. Medium-bodied. Not very Porter-y. After reading some other ratings, it seems like maybe I got a batch that was off.
