Medium beige head quickly disappears. Clear reddish brown body with light carbonation. Strong earthy cherry aroma with vinous strawberry notes. Dry-sweetish-acidic earthy papery vinous cherry taste with waxy funky notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, vaguely metallic mouthfeel. Dry-acidic lemony cherry aftertaste with earthy funky vinegary salty notes. Nice and very harmonic, yet different. (0.375l bottle, shared by gr0ve.)

375ml bottle thanks to bytemesis! Pours hazy ruby red brown with small half finger pink head. Nose is musty tart funk, dark cherries, molasses, berries, grape, red wine. Taste is crisp tart funky dark berries, cherries, wet earthy wood, basement, touch of bread, wine. Carbonation level is perfect. Finish is balanced sour cherry, blackberry, strawberry, red grapes, dusty wood, occasional touches of sweetness. Spectacular, a true classic.

Bottled 1/7/14 Pours a nice brownish red color. Big aroma of cherries and red wine as well. Taste is very sour but not harsh in any way. Cherry taste and wine sweetness as well. Delicious sour and one of the best ones out there ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This one has a very fruity taste. The impact was probably softened by the sour ale I tried just before it, but it has that sour kick nonetheless.

Pours reddish brown with minimal head. Nose is sour cherries, brett, red winey, sour apple. Taste matches nose, cherry, grape skin, vinous note, sour apple rather tart all the way through with the lactic acid sourness and some funk, but not much. Does not dry out a ton at the end, is dry on the whole, but I get the oak barrel character on the finish. It's really good, but I do slightly prefer consecration.

April 2013 bottle from some kind soul that I don’t recall. Pours a nice deep reddish pink, slight white head. Tart, fruity aroma. Grape, cherry, apple, cinnamon, wood. Taste is sweet, tart, slightly puckering, cherry, blueberry, apple, cinnamon, blackberry. Really lingers on the tongue. Imminently chuggable.

Unreal deliciousness. Pours a orangish clear with small dissipating white head. Sour cherry earth smell. Beautiful sour yet sweet taste. Amazingly well carbonated. Sincerely great. Bottle - Received in Trade

First sour I’ve ever had (not that I hadn’t read about them for several months now). Got it and a few others from RR as a gift (and later found out the price- yikes!). Mine was from bottle, batch 007. I finally decided I’d crack it open. Smell from the bottle smelled more like a wine that an ale. Strong smell of oak, cherries and musty goodness - little bit like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Knowing it was a sour ale, but not knowing what to expect, the first taste hit my tastebuds and made them all go running with excitement. It’s not a "beer" and it’s definitely not a wine. If I classified it, it wouldn’t be an ale either - I guess that’s why they call it a sour (ale). Tart initial taste, followed by just enough carbonation and a crisp finish (along with some flavors/layers I can’t do justice to). I dig it - I couldn’t drink a bunch of these, but it was worth the wait (and the cost - thanks to my brother-in-law John)!
