Haslinger (502), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Bottle batch 003. I’m new to sours and not really sure what to expect but this was very tart and acidic. It was almost too tart at the beginning but as it warmed up it mellowed greatly and became much more drinkable. The cherries were very noticeable. Different, but right now I would not buy again
yespr (6000), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 37.5 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Dry and citric fruity aroma. Citric and crisp base flavour with a nice acidic base touch and mild mliky note. Smooth and acidic finish. swoopjones (1072), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 4, 2008 Sample @ BCTC 2008. deep orange color. Very funky, earthy, barnyard aroma. Sour, tartness, funky yeastiness, Very acidic & tasty. Very good well worth the long wait at the festival bumpskier (19), Sonoma, California, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle of batch 3. Huge off white had that was quite persistent. Aroma is of the sour cherries and the Pinot barrel. This beer carries a much strong sour aroma than the previous batches. I like it a lot. Light brownish almost orange color with a nice tingling carbonation that permiates the mouth. Very balanced beer with the hops only adding to bitterness. The superb dryness of the beer makes it incredibly digestible and nearly refreshing. I absolutely love this beer. I am so glad I bought a case of it. JohnQPublic (131), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle, batch 3, @ Ebenezer’s. Pours a dark orange amber, very hazy, slightly off white head. Aroma is sour cherry, a bit of orange. Taste is sharp tartness up front, bit of vinegar, with a citrusy acidity on the finish - a bit earthy also, woody barnyard. Crisp and so light in body. Beautifully done beer. bulletrain76 (508), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 27, 2008 Rating number 500! 375ml bottle, batch 3, at the Trappist in Oakland. Crystal clear amber-orange with a beige head. Sour lemon, white wine and subtle sour cherry aroma. The flavor is quite dry and sour, mostly citric sour, with a hint of vinegar. The cherries are quite subtle, but being sour cherries, they can be expected to blend in with the overall tartness of the beer, I guess. Light bodied and highly carbonated, with a dry, puckering finish. This is definitely my kind of sour, with emphasis on a fruity sourness. The complexities of the wine and cherry flavors are really nice. Props to the Trappist for serving this perfectly in a couple RR chalices.
