Bottle. Pours a hazy light brown with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is sour cherries and a bit of wood. Taste is malt sweetness at first, with a sour cherry and wood finish that is just heavenly. The Pinot Noir barrels add a smooth grape characteristic and a slippery wine characteristic that makes the beer an incredible, incredible experience. I love this beer in ways too numerous to account here - great great achievement by Russian River.

Beautiful rose color, orange tones, light off-white film of a head, very minimal in fact, spotty lacing. Oaken aroma, subtle kriek, very much like Verhaeghe Echte Kriek but softer. Enjoyable tartness on first sip, similar to unripened cherries, notes of oak as well. Decent palate, medium to full bodied.

This was the first beer of the ten Russian River brews at the tasting that ran out. It was also the first time it was ever poured. A cider and Rodenbach like flavor with a light cherry and vinous flavor. The brown ale adds some depth to the pinot wine like elements.

Batch 3 was toasty, a bit woody and with just a slight tartness. The fruit was starting to drop out. Batch 4 was fairly clean with the acid, and with balanced fruitiness. Seemed in its prime. Batch 5-2 was fresh, tart, fruity, and stil a little bit yeasty. Batch 5-5 was the weakest of the bunch, malty, not very lively at all. A dud, if you will. Of the 5, the Batch 4 and Batch 5-2 were my favourites.

No retention and no lacing. Smells of Pinot noir, sour Cherri's and apples. Tastes of sour cherries and grapes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

These do not disappoint. Meaning, the RR sours. Sour esters with a hint of wood and grain. A golden brown color with hits of red. Nice foamy head. Full and dry palate. Big flavor of tart fruit, caramel grain and a funky sharp finish. Refined and complex.

Volunteered poured at GABF...wonderful wild ale funky sour and cherry sour both working together so well. I love the carbonation of theses brews from R.R. so champagne like. I loved it.
