Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

The aroma is a intriguing with a real sourness to it and some brett. Not a huge fan of the color of this beer, its hazy yellow almost neon but the thick well retained white head is very nice. The flavor has a hint of citrus, not sure i really taste the oak but the sourness is very tastey and not too strong. The palate is impressive and has some real wine like characteristicss. Very good

Batch 1 bottle at Grand Tasting. Pours an orangish mango color, with creamy head and nice lacing. Funky cider nose, tart, apples, some cherries, wheat. Tart flavors, sweet fruit, noticeable hops, some sticky malts. Yum. Dry mouthfeel, very good, tartness is fantastically balanced with hops.

Cloudy yellow in color with a thin head (once it dissipated). The nose leads the way with a tart/sour/funky citric aromas. The palate is tart and sour but also incredibly balanced with yellow fruit dominating.

003 batch from 375. Aroma is captavating. Chardonnay influences come thru making this femenin, something tough to do with beer’s I’ve had lately. Oak is noticable but not with vanilla or smoke, but the texture is valvet for a sour. Sour gives lift and cleans the palate for a seemless and long finish. Could see how this can miss out on the WOW factor as it’s subtle and deserves to be aged a couple years. No real sweetness to note. Some yeast has settled but not much. Really amazing assuming you get it for the $12 per bottle or so retail price.

Pours golden with thin white head. Aroma has nice funky kick to it. Taste is light and refreshing. Mild sour notes that make this a good starter beer for 9am. Not too sour and very good.
