Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale started out as six individual brews, each with their own personality, and all incorporating Brettanomyces and or micro-organisms. Once the barrel aging was complete, Russian River’s Vinnie Cilurzo and Toronado’s David Keene got together to create the final blend. To create its fine carbonation, we refermented the Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale in this bottle. Spent yeast cells form a thin layer of sediment in the bottom of this bottle. Pour slowly, allowing the natural yeast sediment to remain in the bottle.
From the label: The beer inside this bottle is for consumption only. This bottle is not a collectable bottle unless it is empty.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2012 750mL bottle, $35 at Toronado SD. Clear auburn orange with a one finger light beige head that fizzes down to a tiny ring rather quickly--and then those disappear with much rousing with further agitation. Smells like an old oaky sour brown with some light acetic notes, moderate lacto, and a bit of raisins that no longer have any sweetness--more than likely Consecration, said the bartender. A bit leathery with tiny amounts of damp cellar show up when nosing further. Wheaty finish with just the tiniest of buttery brett. Sour acidity peaked at a 6, not too crazy. Low carbonation, medium body. 8-4-8-4-17--4.1

Poured from bottle to glass. Copper amber hue with off white head. Aroma is acetic, oak, lactic, slight funk, apples, currants, lemon, citrus. Mouthfeel is good with a light body and great carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with tart following and wood astringentness in the finish. Overall this was a great brew.

crimson light red. Very hearty nose. Lots of cherry, muscadine and blackberry with some lemon and spices. Taste is great. Cloves, blackberry and currants. Cherry pie but heavy lemon. This is great. Not as great as trade value suggests

On tap at Toronado, February 2014. Dark amber with a minimal head. Tart aroma of malt, berries, wood, funk and some vinegar. Similar taste. Solid and well made. The finish was really dry. I am glad that I got the chance to try this one.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 Bottle: thanks, Mike! Copper body with slight clarity & slight haze, topped with a beige & gray-tinted head that settles to a chunky, foamy collar. Aroma contains more oak & cotton-like, Brett-y funk than T-20, also with heavier vinous fruits & sharp vinegar. Definitely smells more tart, with fruity notes of cherries & lemon flesh. Taste is quite sour up front with nice, sharp apple, lemon, & cherry notes atop a dripped slab of wet oak. Perhaps some grapes, too, thanks to the vinous nature of the beer. Dry finish, with more lemons, cherries, oak, & grapes sourness. Tame vinegar, mildly acidic, & only a touch of funky hay in the aftertaste. Great brew, I liked this one a bit more than T-20.

Bottle from trade a while back coming out to finish off the crazy black friday beer shop. Cork came out with a nice pop and the pour has an amber color with a coating of white head that held a ring on the glass. Aroma centers on the acidity, sour brown base, dark fruit, tart cherry, and a yeast cocktail. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation is good. Flavor shows it has some acidity, dark fruits, tart cherry, yeast, barrel tannins, sour brown malts, and a lingering finish leaving the toungue watering. This is definitely a well made sour brown though I think the hype factor puts this so far up in the style ratings.

Bottled. Hazy nut brown-amber color, small off-white head. Leather, vinegar and spiceys in the nose. Medium-bodied. Vinegar, grapes, sour fruity flavor. Long lingering fruity-tart flavor. Delicious.

sampled from a 750ml bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a thick, white off white head. Aroma of funk, vinegar, nice cherry and sour fruit notes. Funky yeast, barnyard aromas. Flavor is tart, sour. Nice satisfying sourness rounded out by tart berries, vinegar, wet wood notes. The sourness gets more powerful as the beer goes on. Lively carbonation. Finishes on a long sour note. An excellent beer.
