Rustic Rail Oatmeal Stout

Once the thick head settled, it settled into a chocolate coloured body, with a still pretty large vanilla coloured head. It had aromas of breakfast, cocoa and oatmeal. It wasn’t too sweet, and not too rich.

I had this brew about 8 months ago and forgot to rate it. This brewhouse is now closed but felt this beer was worth rating. Taste was sweet and creamy with a coffee aftertaste. One thing I remember was that the beer was pretty good and the food sucked, probably why they are no longer open.

One of Rustic Rail’s better brews. On tap only at the Brewhouse, this beer pours an almost opaque dark brown brew with a thick light tan head. Aroma of nutty caramel, a touch of coffee, some lactose and a touch of dark chocolate. Taste is smooth, creamy, with a slight metalic aftertaste. Finish is smooth, light and slight bitter.
