This is a tribute to days past when these beers were brewed in the winter months to be ready for drinking all summer long. RRBC’s Rustic Farmhouse Ale is a spicy, earthy beer, with some haziness that is a signature of the French Saison yeast that is used. Until just a few years ago, the farmhouse ale was almost an endangered species in the U.S. but there has recently been a massive revival. Look for fruitiness in the aroma and in the flavor, medium bitterness, and just a touch of residual sweetness left behind from locally-produced honey.

On tap at Rustic Road Brewpub. Hazy witbier yellow with next to no head. Aroma is spicy and malty with grassiness. Taste is spicy with citrus, yeast, fruit and a bit of grassy and earthy character to it.

This saison is tasty. The yeast is definitely at the forefront, glad they did it as a summer beer cause ti works.
