Thure (132), Aalborg, Denmark Oct 10, 2007 Dark copper colour with a tan head. As soon as its poured an aroma of fruits spread. The aroma is besides fruits of some roasted malts, a bit of alcohol, some peppery notes and toffee. The flavor is sweet and malty, with some banan and some hop oily bitterness. The alcohol is warming but not harsh. Even though the beer has a sweet flavor that you would expect to a full bodied beer the body is only medium to medium-full and goes down very smooth. The aftertaste is somewhat bitter. Maria (4380), Thisted, Denmark Mar 1, 2008 Beautiful red mahogany with a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, sweetness and spice. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, caramel/toffee, slightly spicy fruits and a slightly bitter and dry grapefruit finish. I had this one at the same time as it’s sibling matured in whisky barrels, and I prefer this one, since I’m not too fond of whisky.
faroeviking (4414), Faroese Autonomous Beer Republic, Denmark Nov 17, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a fair head. Sweet well toasted maltiness, yeast, some dark fruits and alcohol in the aroma. Sweet good toasted malt, caramel, yeast, dark fruits and some bitter hops. Toasted sweetish finish with some bitterness. ChristianScheffel (2216), Odense, Denmark May 6, 2008 Muddy amber with a lasting off-white head. Bubblegum and fruit in the aroma. Belgian yeast beats the barleywine malt and hop profile. Rather sweet with some alcohol showing, and a note of wood. MiP (6026), Flensburg, Germany Jun 26, 2008 Bottle at ÅBF08. Alcoholic aroma. Clear dark red colour. Sweet flavour, not as alcoholic as the aroma. Not bad.
