Ungstrup (11338), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 19, 2008 Bottled. An unclear dark amber beer with a lazing light brown head. The aroma is sweet with citrusy and malty notes. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits and candy sugar, leading to a dry bitter and spicy finish. Thanks Myrup for fetching this and sharing it. Papsoe (10254), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 12, 2007 Updated: Sep 30, 2007(Bottle 70 cl) Pours a hazy, dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of nuts and lightly burned malt. Rather full-bodied with plenty of sweetish malt accents and a lightly burned, coffeeish touch. Also and ashy edge before quite some bitterness. In this small documentary you can see how this brew came to life: http://www.tv2regionerne.dk/reg2005/player.aspx?id=374052&r=3 100807 yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 20, 2007 75 cL bottle thanks to Myrup and Papsoe. Pours deep brown/amber with light brown head. Slight spiced and malty aroma. Burned malt flavour, slight sweetness and a distinct spiced note (Tettenang ?). This goes into the finish. Another strange american strong ale, there must be a RB admin involved here :) fiulijn (5880), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Sep 18, 2007 Hazy dark brown color. Peppery aroma, dusty, with some caramel and very light roasted malt; cheesy too (smelly one). Good body strength, with a mix of caramel and chocolate that is not bad, but a bit dusty too and with a light herbal note that let’s imagine some fermentation problem. A bit too alcoholic at the end. Not balanced. thewolf (3953), Kolding, Denmark Sep 30, 2007 Bottle @ ChristianScheffel tasting. [thank you Myrup!]
Pours a deep, muddy brown with a great beige head. Aroma is sweet with loads of American hops, floral, apples and fruity mixed with a good caramel background. Medium body. Flavour is perhaps too dominated by the alcohol which could have been disguised better. Other than that, this is (again) a very competent brew from Søkildegaard. Long lingering aftertaste. Hops, caramel and a distant nuttyness.
