3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. The aroma of dark malt, light bitter, reminds me a little bit of a cola without sugar. The head is small, white and creamy-fizzy, fast disappearing. The body is dark red. The taste is in the beginning quite bitter, the beer is dry in the mouth. The finish is light cardboard. The body is medium strong and very dry, especially in the finish. The carbonation is lively.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle from Bierzwerg. The back label says it is a Schwarzbier, despite the beer being called Dunkel. Clear deep dark colour, nearly black, dense beige head. Aroma of coffee and roasetd malts. Medium-bodied, slightly malty with intensive flavours of roasetd malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Stout-like smooth and velvety mouthfeel. I think it has more characteristics of a Schwarzbier, rather than a Dunkel. Whatever it is, it’s definitely a nice beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(swing top bottle) Dark reddish amber colour with a fluffy beige foam, which is quite unstable but moderately persistent. Sweet and slightly nutty aroma of dark and toasted malt with caramel, bread dough and a touch of herbal hops in the background. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to light body, smooth carbonation. Toast-malty tasty, minimal roasted notes with melanoidins, also caramel; medium dry, malty, slightly bitter, dense hoppy and a bit slim finish with light aspects of chocolate in the aftertaste. Decent Dunkel from the east of Germany.
