Tall 0.3 litre glass at the brewpub on 10 Sep 2013. Murky looking dull brown/amber body, on top a cream coloured head. Slight caramel and nutty feel to the nose and taste: fairly sweet with a mild hop finish. I’d say a typical German brewpub Dunkel, nothing upsetting, but nothing extra ordinary either, drinking it fresh and surrounded by the brewing equipment makes all the difference though. Comes out with a better score because of that!

This is an ok Dunkel. Malty, caramel, and nutty flavors. Finishes smooth, dry, and clean.

Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, dry, caramel, leather notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121004]

Brewpub Bottle 1l. Typical brewhouse style Dunkles. Cloudy, fresh, small carbonisation. Great malty taste, little bit bitter fom the Röstmalz, too much for my taste. Drinkable!

Grima (2033) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - JAN 21, 2011
Draught on tap@brewpub! Beautiful nut-brown color, fine creamy head. Smells malty bitter with decent hop aromas. Starts nutty malty, but overall very bitter, and hoppy as expected. The aftertaste is also very harsh and dry, especially. The center part is significantly hoppy. In my opinion too much hopped and too bitter for a Dunkles!

1000 ml bottle from the brewpub. Pours a nice dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is chocolate and nuts. Taste is smooth and crisp with heavy rosted malts.Palate could end better but overall a good Dunkel

Tap at brewpub. Chocolate caramel malt aroma with light astringency. Hazy amber color with moderate head. Light sweet chocolate malt flavor with charcoal finish. Nice.

On tap at the brewpub. Hazy amber colour, white head. Aroma of sulfur and stonefruits at first, later caramel, sweet fruits. Flavour is sweet, burnt sugar, tropical fruits, light roasted malts, nice light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nice, but becomes a bit cloying towards the end.
