Sackets Harbor Thousand Islands Pale Ale

From botle. Light sweet tea aroma with fruity grassy hop resin, mild grapefruit. Hazy medium amber clear with no head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts with nice caramel and pilsner malts, medium grassy hop bitterness and light pine resin. Finishes quite bitter with resin and citrus peel and fairly heavy astringency. Decent pale ale.

Cute label drawing of people in a motorboat. Pleasant aroma and flooded with flavor. Multifaceted - complex and enjoyable taste, not super-hoppy. This appears to be brewed by Mendocino/Saratoga for Sackets Harbor, in which case it is another fine product from them.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma has both malt and hops, notes of grass, caramel and light citrus. Medium body. Flavor starts lightly sweet and ends on a bitter grassy note. Not bad.

Pours a clear amber brown. Small amount of head off a very firm pour and it sticks around for a short while. Nose is light. Green leafy hopppy scent. Flavor is actually pretty smooth. Consistent slightly salty hops coat your tongue and never really fade. Slight metallic tone on the very very end. Barely there, but something is up. The resin hop character is also there, and it stays pretty firm. Feel is thick on the liquid, good level of bubble, and it just leaves a lasting impression on your tongue. You can feel this one for a very lone time. Overall very drinkable. This was a surprise. Not that I thought it was going to be a disaster. It’s just nice to be able to find something that is not so mainstream be so nice. Worth a shot.
