fredandboboflo (388), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 21, 2008 On tap. Not all that much to the aroma, some sweet/tart fruitiness, including strawberry. Flavor opens up more, definitely picks up on the strawberry notes, remains sweet, but has that tartness too, and I didn’t get anything syrupy or cloying out of it, remained a pleasant drink throughout. Pretty solid stuff.
Nate (2199), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 From bottle. Mild caramel and biscuit notes, light hoppy acidity, neutral fruits. Medium orange-amber clear, with quickly dissipating head. Light body with medum carbonation. Starts with a little sweetness, light acidity and some nutty-dry caramel. Dull sweet malt until the end, with a mild bitter and nutty after. blipp (627), Grand Island, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber orange with a beige head. Aroma is very light, with a bit of caramel malt. Medium body. Flavor is again very light, with some caramel malt, light hops and a light fruity sweetness. Not bad I guess. yesyouam (329), Fairport, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 [On tap at MacGregor’s in Penfield, NY]
Sackets Harbor War of 1812 Ale is an amber ale with a thin, dense, splotchy white head that soon fades. The aroma is faint, slightly sweet and slightly roasty. It has a medium light body and it’s reasonably smooth. The flavor is faint and a little sour. It’s not very bitter and a bit wooden tasting. Overall, it’s a pretty unoffensive beer. Guinness4Duff (431), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA May 24, 2008 On tap. Pours a nice amber color with a small white head. Has a mildly nutty aroma with a bit of a fruit presence. Taste is pretty good, mildly sweet with a nice medium floral hop presence. Light and easy to drink, could put these down all day. redlight (1040), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 21, 2008 Not sure why an america brewer would name a beer after the war of 1812 considering our capital was burned to the ground by the british and we bassically lost all but 1 major battle that was fought days after a peace treaty was signed! but i digress! haha. so now about the actual beer, there’s really not a lot to say. Cereal grains on the nose, a slight nuttiness. pours a light amber with no head. The flavor is bready with some stale cereal flavors, some hops are slightly noticable. There’s is nothing going on here, the name struck up more emotions than the beer itself.
