chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England May 21, 2005 Sampled on handpump at the Church Inn, Saddleworth, where the beer is brewed. A lovely pub next to the isolated St Chads Church high on the edge of the moors above Uppermill, with views down into the valley. Plus there’s an excellent J W Lees pub (the Cross Keys) just a little further up the hill,, with a helpfully signposted footpath between the two. I’m assuming that this is a version of a regular beer, Hopsmacker, with added honey. The honey does add a touch of sweetness but is otherwise not very noticeable. Amber colour, with a slight haze. Hoppy and slightly sharp, with citric notes. Crisp and refreshing. A nice drinking drop.
