Dr.Hardwicke’s Double IPA 8.5%. Brewed with huge amounts of 3 varieties of American Hops, added continuously over a 85 minute boil and then dry hopped in the fermenter and cask. What better way to enjoy soring that with a pint of 8.5% Double IPA :)

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Very pale golden coloured with an earthy citrus and peppery hop flavour, malty notes followed by pineapple and spicy fruit on the finish.

Bottle from Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Golden looks with a meek white head. Aroma a tad lacking with some muted hop and caramel. Sweet boozy flavour with some tropical fruit notes. Ok but not quite the phat hop hit I was hoping for.

Bottled 16/09/14. A golden coloured beer with a whitish ring of head. Pretty good. Very boozy, fruity and hoppy. Sharp bitterness. Not in your face big like most IIPAs. Almost more like a golden barley wine. Malts merge well. A long finish. I like it. Strong and tasty although the aroma is thin.

Pours a clear, orangey golden color, topped with a decent just slightly off-white head. A very pleasant malty aroma, mild citruses easily picked up. The taste is bittery, develops a more sweet taste later. Some fruity and biscuity notes towards the end and a bit metallic in the aftertaste. Apart from that, very nice.

Bottle B&M Bargains. Sweet syrup dominates everything unfortunately and the big hops are pretty much out of the picture. Metallic characteristics, could almost be a tinned beer. Hope the cask version is a lot better - I assume it is, given the high score.

Appearance: Clear amber with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Citrus, pith, floral, pepper, pineapple, wheat, umami, muskiness, marmalade. Taste: Medium sweetness, low/medium bitterness and low sourness. Palate: Medium thick grainy texture, medium body, average carbonation, lingering dry, sweet, marmalade, syrupy, pineapple, peppery finish with light citrus. Comments: Tasty and glass lace but a bit sweet and syrupy.
