3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Home Bargains, Scunthorpe. Jet black, thin but lasting off white head and good condition. Roasted coffee, some red berry notes and a low liquorice sweetness in the nose, full bodied in the mouth initially but quickly thinning and becoming dry, mostly bitter roasted notes and a gentle fruitiness although at the back there is a slight vanilla note and a suggestion of coconut, mostly roasted bitterness and a lingering berry fruitiness in the finish

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 26, 2013 If a beer looks better then ive yet to see it. Black black black with slightest ruby tinge when held against light. Thick chocolate with faint vanilla cream in mouth. Impressive. Not too much aroma. Head thick for couple of minutes then slight lacing..thinner in mouth than expected from look and the abv. Nice one. Oily feel left in mouth. Cracker

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another stout which blurs the boundaries between porter. Smooth with a taste of milk chocolate, quite thin for its strength but very drinkable. Not much of an aftertaste, a little light on hops and not much of that roasted coffee bean flavour often associated with stout. As a stout it losses points, as a porter it gains them back plus a few more. Would I rush to have another? I just did.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from B&M, Chester-Le-Street, poured into a 1/2 pint chalice. Deepest red-brown with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon vanilla ice cream. Considering the blurb, I was expecting some quite prominent and challenging flavours. Instead, I found it to be quite smooth an creamy in a favourite blanket sort of way. Comforting beer anyone?

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from B&M. Dark body with poor head. Little aroma. Coffe and chocolate flavours with the vanilla coming through on the finish. Enjoyable and highly drinkable though I expected a little more complexity for a 6.6% stout.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask @ The Windsor Castle during the RB Black Country Bash. The pourís deep brown with a small head. The nose is coffee, a bit of red berry compote. Toast. The taste is tangy red berry, rust. Some bitter cocoa, chocolate syrup. A touch of earthy roast. Light body, smooth. Perfectly fine stuff. A touch tangy for my tastes.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle purchased from Co-Op in Oakham, Rutland.
Poured a dark brown/ ruby with a dissipating tan head. Aroma had hints of burnt malt, but also a rather skunky note, not very strong, especially for a 6.6% stout. Mouth feel was pretty watery, but some pleasant dark fruit and molasses with some roasted malts. Flavours were no where near as powerful as I expected. A little disappointing.
