Dark thick black, with creamy head that lingers. Love beers that look like this. Aroma of malt and coffee, and a bit of smokiness. Thick bitter flavor, very hoppy, finishing almost with a bit of burn. Itís a bit too astringent for my mouth, both taste and palate.

Very dark brown, not totally opaque. Creamy tan head. Aroma is mainly cocoa. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Has a little twist of cocoa on the finish. The vanilla is barely present. I donít find that in the aroma. Medium body. Very drinkable and mellow.

Bought from my local discount store having never heard of the beer before. Pleasantly surprised with my purchase, roasted malts and liquorice aroma with a very dark appearance with thin off white head. Taste is hops, bitter, roasted malt, caramel, vanilla and dark chocolate. The body is full and complex - overall very happy with this and I will seek it out again. A fine example of a stout.

Svart kropp med ljust brunt hŲgt skum. Rostade toner, chocklad och kaffe. Bra balans i smaken. Fyllig kropp i fŲrhŚllande till ABV.

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Actually picked it up in "B&M bargains" which to our non-British friends is a discount shop. Bought it for not very much and very glad I did. Very deceptive and does not taste its strength, so beware ! Nice and smooth, hint of licorice and vanilla and not to sweet, making it very supable. Me thinks Iíll be popping back for more.

Bottle from B & M Bargains, Stretford Mall, Manchester [181114]
Dark caramel brown, clear, big fizzy head that dissipates to nothing, then flat as a pancake
Aroma of mellow roast, dark malts, some dark cocoa, vanilla, dab of sweet dark chocolate, hint of brown bread
Taste of mellow roast, some dark malts, dab of brown bread, alcohol well hidden, soft coffee, dark chocolate, but the flavour is quite weak for a 6.6% beer
Palate - Almost no carb, quite thin, fairly sweet palate. Finish as main flavour, soft sweet dark malts
Overall - Doesnít taste 6.6%, but expected something richer flavoured and more full bodied for that strength. Iím sure this would be better on cask.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2014 Sample at SBWF 2014. Malty smell with chocolate, caramel and bready malts. Similar taste, sweet and with a nutty flavour. Re-rated on bottle. Way to much metal and ink.

I like vanilla flavours in a stout, but there is too much of it here for me. Some cereal and coffee as well, but too little roasted malt and bitterness. Doesnít quite work.

Cask at Merchants, Rugby. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste is smooth, pretty alcoholic with a chocolate vanilla taste throughout. Pretty sweet finish. Nice stuff.

Not really to my taste. Overly strong flavoured, like Guinness original x100. Very alcoholic. Very thick and cloying couldn't drink more than one in an evening ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
