Cask at Jewel of the Severn (JDW), Bridgnorth. Red-brown, mostly clear with a noncommittal off-white head. Intriguing but ultimately noncommittal scent of malt, seawater, red berries. Sweet malty taste, and although the malt backbone always asserts its dominance, the gently bittersweet hop character shines forth in fruity suggestions on to the finish. Redcurrant and hazelnut in the finish. A quaffable quasi-IPA.

Bottle from B&M Hounslow, pours a deep mahogany with a pale head, toasty nose with hints of dried date, has lastingly dry bitterness over roasted caramel and a touch of dark dried fruit. Refreshing and rather nice.

Bottle. Very dark amber reddish coloured beer, almost brown, with a reasonable head. The aroma is well roasted with a bitterness and maltiness. The flavour is very bitter, roasted and bready with some maltiness and a long bitter and dry finish. Overall a reasonable well flavoured beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
