Poured a clear golden brown with a thick white head and broken lace. The aroma is rich and with hints of citrus. The flavour is bitter and fruity with treacle and toffee notes too. The bitterness hits the palate and stays there for a while for a more refreshing flavour. A very satisfying and flavour packed session beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (2440) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 19, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before the end of Aug 2012: poured into a UK sleeve pint glass on 19th June 2012.
Good looking amber body: deep head of off-white bubbles on top.
The nose was yeasty, earthy and woody, with a semi-sweet malty ester as well.
The taste almost mirrors the aromas but with a mildly bitter hop finish and a maltier start to each sip.
Carries the 4.3% ABV nicely and overall not a bad beer at all.

Bottled 05/05/12. An amber coloured beer which pours with no head. Sweet toffee and leafy hops in the nose. Similar in the mouth. Some orangey hop notes too. A standard English bitter which is OK at what it does.

Hand pulled at the Windsor Castle, Lye. Mid-gold, with not a lot on top. Fuzzy chocolate malt. Smooth tangy UK hop flavour. Some oil, some nut, some sweetness and sourness. Trad bitter. Hard and reasonable.
