Bottled. Aroma of raisins, madeira and some vanilla. Reddish brown color, off-white head, good lace. Quite sweet, rather bitter, prunes, hints of milk chocolate and vanilla as well. Pretty flat yet cloying. Vienna? No Dunkel to me at least. I think if not pasteurized and fresh on tap this could be a very nice beer. Thanks Savad!

330ml bottle. Courtesy of andregoncalves. Malty, caramel and some dried fruit aromas. POurs amber, quite clear, with nice off-white head, persistent, poor lacing. Light to medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste is malty, some spicy, fruity. Not so balanced.

Peppery malt nose. Impressive clarity with copper body and a decent white puff head, served by consistent carbonation. Very ’quaff’ mouthfeel from the get-go, initial mineral taste. Taught bitterness and metallic malt with a rounded creamy sweetness. Almost a little like Swizzels Drumsticks in a weird creamy fruit squeeze to the finish, with a metallic dryness to the finish.
I don’t doubt this beer is kept and poured to perfection, and was dispensed by the most serious barman I saw all trip. Not bad but easily forgettable if it travelled any further north in Europe.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Rotem. Clear reddish brown with a cream-coloured head. A little fruity and bready aroma, also metallic. Tastes sweet and nasty. Light body, rather soft carbonation, weird aftertaste.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2013 11.2 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy copper with a medium sustaining beige head. Smells of overbearing caramel, definitely not something I look for. Taste is also overbearing sweet caramel malt; no bitterness. Thin body. Not good.

Amber i färgen med offwhite skum. Söt och fruktig i karaktären. Gräs, fruktig malt, maltsötma, lite biteert på slutet.

Not as good as the 1835 version, but a good pale colour and pleasant tasteful beer. Out of the common sense beer in Portugal.
