4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I had this at my local Vietnamese restaurant and I enjoyed its flavor. It had a solid amount of carbonation and wasn’t watered-down. It was grassy and somewhat sweet, but it paired well with the Vietnamese dishes, especially the cilantro and bean sprouts.

Pale golden. Plain aroma as all lagers, tastes of rice, very mild, just to water down food. Low average.

Pale Lagers aren’t really supposed to be flavourful so I’m not sure why they get so much hate. Certainly not great but not awful... Clear straw pour. No head or real aroma. Flavour of wheat and rice. Fizzy. Has a metallic aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Drank more of this in Hoi An and sister An Hoi than I found in Saigon. Tasting from the Red Gecko, backstreets of An Hoi - A restaurant I highly recommend!
Straw gold and bright with soda-pop carbonation and a loose, fluffy white crown. The aroma first bursts with boiled cabbage, overboiled eggs and metal shards but this fades quickly to reveal soft, summer grain, toasted rice, lemon pepper and grass. On the palate it is sweet and malty - I sense a theme going with Vietnamese lagers, as sweet as their delicious coffee. Musty, minty and slightly metallic back-end with a peppery, leafy hop finish touched off with more sweet malt. Body is light and uncumbersome in the finish with moderate carbonation that is persistent. Worked well with the spicy food of central Vietnam. Not too shabby overall. UPDATED: JUN 18, 2015 Aus der Flasche (355 ml) in einem Sushi-Imbiß in Berlin (spendiert von Herrn R., der damit meine Absicht, mal einen alkoholfreien Abend einzulegen, durchkreuzte). - Goldgelb, klar; rasch verschwindender Schaum. - In der Nase sehr schwache malzige Noten. - Antrunk dünn malzsüßlich mit ganz schwacher Fruchtigkeit. Durchschnittlich rezent. Im Abgang nur eine Andeutung von Herbe. - Belanglose, dünne Brause. Nicht direkt übel aber ohne jeden Reiz. Am Reis allein kann das nicht liegen.

Bottle at Pop Up Brixton. Clear apple amber, medium white head. Nose is standard macro lager. Grassy, straw, sweet malt grain, crisp dry lager yeast. Taste as above, body is slightly too watery, but it’s drinkable and better than many big name macro lagers. Curiously made with rice too as some Japanese beers used to be, but I can’t really notice it in the beer.
