This is Saigon Beer’s attempt at a Premium beer, and it is much smoother, and with the extra alcohol there is more substance to their bland ingredients.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 KyotoLefty (4735) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 31, 2009
Bottle in Osaka. Light, fruity, citrus aroma. Ok malt, not very special but refreshing and fruity with lots of citrus. A bit of cardboard takes away, but just a bit. Light, bubbly, and good for hot climates, I suppose. Better than expected.

Brought to me via a friend from Vietnam. This was the best thing she brought. A step up from a regular lager, but certainly nothing special.

Bottle 45cl. Poured pale gold with a poor white head that quickly fades. The aroma was a little like a fruity white wine - cool grape, melon though enhanced by a definite alcoholic taint. The flavour too was fruity, with a little malty alcohol, not all that pleasant, something that lingered in the aftertaste. Watery palate. Average - clashing tastes.

Green bottle. Clear golden with a whispy white head that slowly diminished. Malty and citrusy aroma and flavours. OK bitterness but short finish. Less than inspiring.

A refreshing beer while in Vietnam, best served chilled, and with ice.
Can be readily found, and is one of the better beers.

Had this with goat brain soup in Ho Chi Minh City. Not horrible. Golden color with a white head. It’s gotta be cold though!
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 visionthing (1655) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 5, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2012 Bottle by the pool in Hoi An. Light yellow with a small white head. Aroma of malt and grain with a hint of caramel and cooked vegetables. Sweet and lightly malty. Quite standard South-East Asian pale lager, but a bit more body and taste. Goes down easy in the heat. Hint of bitterness in the finish.
