2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Another disappointing beer from S&A. Lacks the necessary chalk and minerals that are so integral to a good kolsch. Really this just looks like a pale lager. Woolies have to try harder!

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
From a bottle. Pours a crystsl clear pale yellow, generic "beer" aroma, lasting head, it’s a bit bland. I’m not that excited.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Fizzy. A small white head with a slightly pale golden body. Slight floral aroma but there is little complexity in the flavours. No discernible bitterness or malt complexity. Not a good attempt

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Disappointing from a brewer that gave us some tasty beers. Lot of bubbles but hardly any impact on the nose. Not much on the palate either. Very watery.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Drank from bottle. Some light hops, malt and sour fruit flavours. Watery, unpleasant taste. Not a good example of a kolsch, and just not good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pale gold body, slight haze, white head drops away.
Mild aroma; grainy malts with a touch of floral hop.
Medium body & carbonation, dry overall impression.
Grainy malts continue on the body, light cracker biscuit flavour with a light sweetness. Floral herbaceous hops linger briefly on a subtle bitter finish.
A example of the style, somewhat underwhelming but quite clean and drinkable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear mid gold, little or no gas but fizz on the tongue, no head. Flat-ish taste, little palate but a slight yeasty finish. Unremarkable.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
From a 345ml bottle on 22/8/2013. Pours a clear light golden with a tiny head. Has a quite unpleasant aroma featuring urine and stale bready malt. The flavour is similarly uninspiring featuring more stale bread and grain. The body and carbonation are medium. I think some of the other beers in this series have been harshly treated on here. Not this one though - it’s horrible.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Flat head with no bubbles at all. Water and hints of dolpy malts. Bland and dull. A poor attempt at a Kolsch. Drain pour for this one.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
I don’t think I’ve ever tried a proper Koelsch. This one, I agree with the rater below, does taste like a poorly-hopped pale ale. - poorly as in the choice of hops, as it is very herbal and not too bitter, sweet for a long time, until a nasty metalic bitterness expands through the palate. Far from pleasant.
