COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fremantle brewing maestros, Sail & Anchor, have released a limited edition Imperial Stout just in time for the cooler months - the perfect winter warmer. The Stout itself is characterised by a strong malt character and a deep, palate covering caramel sweetness which plays ever brilliantly well with the hop bitterness which come in at 60 IBUs. Notes of espresso coffee and dark chocolate finish off this dark and refreshing Imperial Stout that is a perfect match for a dark chocolate dessert or an open fire.

Nice and black, but with no respectable head. Grand marnier, chocolates and herbal bitter on the aroma and flavour, with green tea, citrus and charred bitterness, coffee, and very thin body. More like a watery "Black India Ale" than a RIS.

Great stout, creamy head, pours dark black. Tastes of chocolate, sultanas, coffee and umps. Lingers long on the palette with a slightly bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

KeefOz (763) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - AUG 9, 2013
Poured an opaque black colour with a one-finger beige coloured foamy head that collapsed quickly and laced poorly. Aroma of sweet chocolate malt without any detectable alcohol. Taste dominated by mildly bitter roasted malts and a bit of sweetness – not as sweet as I’d expect from a 9.5% ABV. Light to medium body. Smooth but with a moderately bitter finish. Quite nice.

Pours jet black with a slight opaque hue. This beer smells like a mash tun mid sparge. The flavor is also very mash tun-esque, but very robust. Medium body and very dry. Misses the smooth velvety flavours you'd expect from a really good RIS. Still a very enjoyable beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black with a thin scummy tan head, roasted aromas, hints of fruit. Flavours of dark roasted and toasted malts, coffee and dark bitter chocolate, caramelized fruit. Well balanced, thinish mouthfeel and finishes on the dry side. not bad.

[500ml bottle, courtesy of Sevare] Black as the proverbial. Beige lacing. Soft chocolate roast on the nose, yet on the flavour, some coffee appears alongside. Still heavy choc on the finish. Alcohol takes a back seat. Nice stuff [21062013]
