3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2012 Tap (SOPP2012, Turku)
Smooth mellow gently woody aroma, sweet and rich. Looks lovely, a rich rusty orange. Super smooth in the mouth, succulent, and with just enough carbonation to make the sweetness not too sticky. Lovely mellow bready vapours - clearly packing, but not boozy. Slips down so easily, one pint is most likely to be followed by another!
Rerate: Aged vertical
BB2012-11: 6:4:6:3:13=3.2, some raisin even in aroma, nice hoppy bitterness, clear, and beautiful.
BB2011-05: 6:3:7:4:14=3.4, more oxidised, still hoppy, has gone a little misty.
Looking forward to a 3-way vertical in a few years time!

A brown beer with a weak and blond head. The nose is sweet and toffeeish, red berries. Quite simple, but nice aroma. Taste of sweet malts, toffee, some fruits, bitter herbs. The end is slightly alcoholic. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Simple, sweet and slightly alcoholic beer, quite OK.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear dark brown beer with virtually no head, just a little white foam. Aroma of caramel and sweet bread. Flavors: caramel, slight bitterness, cooked vegetables, alcohol. Somewhat unbalanced beer but not undrinkable. Does not compete with trappist beers. Better than a dark lager but nowhere near Belgian ales.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Body is red and clear with virtually no foam. Nose is weak with slight scents of spices and caramel. Taste starts bitter and spicy, followed by the sweetness of malts and caramel. Alcohol is fairly pronounced and leaves a feeling of warmth in the body. Carbonation is minimal. A bit of a disappointment.
