500ml, special offer in Sainsburys. I reckon I must have got a bad one. Yellow colour, head quickly dissipated. Citrus aroma, taste a bit thin. Not much malt or hop flavour, taste a bit off. I do remember trying this before and it being much better,

Hmm, nice stuff, a pleasant surprise. Aroma of citrus and malts. Light hoppy taste on the tongue giving way to citrus and malt. Not strong but very pleasant and well-balanced. Good beer.

very suprised by this one, aroma is grassy. flavour is far more complex than expected with citrus and deep fruits and malt kicking in all at the same time, very nice suprise.

Bottle. Did not expect much after the Osprey by the same brewery but this was different. Copper colour with sulphur and citurs hop nose. Some caramel and then a long dry hop citric finish.

Didn’t like the Sanisbury’s / Wychwood Red Kite, so wasn’t expecting much from this. In fact it was a pleasant enough beer. Good head and colour and a delightful sweet, malty aroma. A bit too much fizz, but a refreshing bitter finish.

bottle thanks to my sister returning home from london! a very woody tannic aroma with an okay malt presence--similar flavor and mouthfeel. thin, but maybe that explains the 6% (over-attenuated)? not good but certainly drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2005 Firecrests fruity citrus aromas are contrasted interestingly and pleasantly with a warm, woody hops aroma. appearance is golden/caramel colour. medium bodied with a bitter tart finish. A surprisingly pleasant beer, espescially since it came from sainsburys.

Sept, 2002:I understand that the firecrest is a rare bird that can be found in Wychwood near Oxford - so it seems an appropriate name! This is a spanking good ale - lots of whiskey malt aroma and flavour with a tangy balance of lemony hops. Crisp, clean, refreshing, with oodles of body. The Sainsbury Wychwoods are in a class of their own. Splendid. [3.0]
Dec, 2004: The typical clean, dry caramel Wychwood aroma. A very clean orange-amber colour. Rusty toffee flavours. Minimal hops, but a sticky sweet yet bitter finish. Enjoyable. [3.0]
